I just finished reading Tarzan, and I'm kinda surprised I could get through the whole thing o.o On some counts it's pretty unrealistic, such as how he could teach himself to read and write and all that. And it spends like pages going on and on about how smart and strong and mighty Tarzan is >__> and I think the words 'huge biceps' and 'rolling, knotted muscles' were used in every single fight scene(except those involving puny, weakling humans, of course). But overall it was pretty nice compared to the Disney movie, since the people there never found out that he was Tarzan until after he got to America, and he was actually the Lord Greystoke or something, but he gave up his title and Jane to this other guy, his cousin I think. He's so nice hahah. (nah, I'm just really glad that he and Jane didn't end up together.) And the Disney movie.... how the heck did Clayton become a guy who started killing all the gorillas? In fact no one even killed a gorilla in the entire book o.o and apparently Tarzan lived with apes which are not gorillas... er. Anyway that Negro woman who kept fainting annoyed the hell outta me xD Jane is stupid and useless in both book and movie. Well, nothing surprising about that. Except in the book she liked this guy, then fell in love with Tarzan, then hated that previous guy, then got engaged to this other guy, then got Tarzan to break off the engagement, then didn't know to take Tarzan or the first guy, and somehow promised herself to the first guy, then dumped Tarzan. Most of this happened in, like, 3 pages. Amazing. Then his mother was killed like damn early in the book... I was pretty shocked too xD and then he got vines and started strangling people from a tribe that lived there for no reason lol. So in the movie he strangled a person he wasn't supposed to strangle but didn't strangle everyone who he was supposed to... wait there weren't even black people in the movie. eh. The part where Jane starts gazing into his eyes and clutching his chest and everything got me a little worried, but I guess it turned out awesome after all. Tarzan can forget about her and set his sights on becoming king kong next. king of the city hahah. Or maybe he goes on to become Spiderman. who knows. |
