I'm reading The Book Thief. And I tell you. I'm going to force everyone to read this. So be prepared. Because it is possibly the best book I have ever read. Hell, I read the back and already fell in love with it. Here is what it says by the way. HERE IS A SMALL FACT. You are going to die. 1939. Nazi Germany. The country is holding its breath. Death has never been busier. Liesel, a nine-tear-old girl, is living with a foster family on Himmel Street. Her parents have been taken away to a concentration camp. Liesel steals books. This is her story and the story of the inhabitants of her street when the bombs begin to fall. SOME IMPORTANT INFORMATION This novel is narrated by Death. its a small story, about: a girl an accordonist some fanatical Germans a Jewish fist fighter and quite alot of thievery. ANOTHER THING YOU SHOULD KNOW Death will visit the book thief three times. Wheee. I guess the reason I like it is because it's written from Death's point of view. And he(it?) seems so sad, looking at humans, unable to really understand them and unable to touch them except for their souls. And Death's way of thinking is really unique, I like it. He also likes chocolate. Lol. And because this book is oh-so-perfect for literature, I started reading it like literature, looking at the compare/contrast parts, the imagery, and analysing everything. lol. I really like how he mentioned the three colors white, black and red in the first few chapters, and them put them together to form the Nazi flag. In summary: meh, I love this book. Please, trust me. I most definitely can be cheerful. I can be amiable. Agreeable. Affable. And that's only the As. Just don't ask me to be nice. Nice has nothing to do with me. - The Book Thief |
